AIM - Alternative Investment Market UK

Mansion House Securities offers the opportunity for investors to identify strong, young and dynamic companies listed on the AIM market.

AIM is little more than a decade old and is an embryonic market to the main market of the London Stock Exchange. It was set up to allow smaller companies to offer their shares to the public and to raise capital to grow. There have now been well over 2700 companies listed on AIM with over £34 billion of new capital raised since its launch.

Indeed, it could be said that AIM now overshadows the main market with 277 Initial Public Offerings on AIM in 2006 but only 54 on the main market. Institutional investors hold approximately 40% of AIM's total share value. They of course have the opportunity to meet the management of the companies, allowing them to find out more about a company before making an investment. This is not something the private investor can normally do. But this is where the service at Mansion House Securities is invaluable to our clients; speaking to a company's management is just one of the processes used when assessing potential investment opportunities.

With so many companies to look at, finding the right investment can be difficult. At Mansion House Securities we specialise in seeking out companies offering excellent growth potential and excluding those that are less attractive. Our experts have a wealth of experience, dating back to the launch of AIM, and look for those companies with the potential to outperform.

There are however risks associated with investments admitted to trading on AIM. As with any equity investment the price can go down as well as up. The total amount you invest is at risk. It should also be remembered that the AIM market has lighter regulation than the main market with no minimum capitalisation or number of shares issued.

Please see our section about the risks to investment opportunities offered by Mansion House in emerging businesses. As a client of Mansion House Securities, an investment advisor will be assigned to you and will be ready to discuss the potential risks and benefits of investing on the AIM market with you.
